The human body need minerals in food, in small amounts but they are needed. They serve a number of purposes that are vital to help building strong bones, maintaining salt levels and produce energy from food.

Some minerals are vital to us in larger amounts and are thus referred to as essential:

Balanced Diet
A healthy, varied diet give you all the minerals you need. In case you are a vegan or vegetarian you have to pay attention to that you get sufficient quantities. Iron is something that not all vegetables or fruit contain: Dried figs, lentils, potatoes, nuts and beans do. There exists various supplements you also can use but they should not be necessary.
